2010 Winter Trend: The Velvet

The key to wearing this trend is to keep everything to a maximum, avoiding bright accessories & fancy silhouettes, as they will add an over-the-top drama to your ensemble. The point of wearing velvet is to look sophisticated, chic & sexy, not trashy.

One of the Fall/Winter 2009-2010 catwalk messages was ‘Go Velvet or Go Home’, as the luxurious fabric was incorporated in to a melange of outfits: cocktail dresses, evening gowns, miniskirts, coats, pants & blazers. Velvet was no longer underground, & they were delighted to see a contrasting trend to the crazy 80s, with beautifully crafted pieces instantly reminding us of the Jazz Age, when women were divinely chic, polished & utterly feminine.
