Nothing evokes the feeling of summer for me like a bold floral print. Reminiscent of the blooming flowers they see in early spring, florals are fun, feminine, & cheerful. I equate them with warm weather, long days, & lots of sunshine – hence my strong liking for them. While I was on holiday from my day job I attended the Fashion Magazine fall 09 trend preview event. This was the magazines take on the key trends for the upcoming fall 2009 – 2010 season. I awlays find it odd to hear about the season during it’s execution in the market. By this time I’m already over the trends and require to see the merchandise in person. sometimes I get re-inspired or opinions adapt about collections after touching the garments. Prada fall 2009 collection is a lovely example of this effect, I’m gag over the collection now after seeing pieces in the store. Time helps to ease initial perception of a collection.
The preview took place at the the gorgeous Andrew Richard Design Loft in the east end high end furniture shop mecca of King Street. The space was gorgeous and they were treated to drinks and canapes. Nicky Hilton steps out in a pair of Cloudy Wash Skinny Jeans and I’m reminded to send you this Trend Alert! I call this “Cloudy Wash” a new spin on “Tie-dye” and “Acid wash” from the 80’s. It reminds me of when the “bell bottoms” came back, we didn’t call them bell bottoms and we weren’t bell bottoms either, so we became “flares” but there was a new spin on them to make them stylish again.
