Ellery Spring and Summer 2010

Kym Ellery knows what it takes to create a successful fashion label. Kym studied Fashion Design and Production in Perth, before attending the acclaimed Central St Martins fashion school in London. This was the start of the budding designer Ellery.
However, unlike many of today’s excelling young fashionistas who venture straight into the realms of needle and thread after study, Kym worked in the creative team for Russh magazine for four years before starting her acclaimed self-titled fashion label ELLERY.
Kym was apart of the forefront that has made Russh magazine a renowned fashion title within Australia. So it is without a doubt that ELLERY was born to achieve success, given that Kym had analysed those before her with Russh Magazine.
Kym quotes “I felt like there was a small gap in the market for well made, fashion forward clothing. Clothing that came out of a label that created its own trends yet refreshed its image each season – as we see in many of the international design houses.”
Ellery already has a complete women’s fashion range including women’ clothing such as jackets, denim, shorts, tops and dresses, as well as accessories such as belts and shoes..
Sexy is one of the words that will always be associated with this designer’s wares; could gold body con dresses be described any other way? But Kym’s pieces aren’t attention grabbing in a vegas showgirl or street corner hooker sort of a way (although they could easily slide into that category if accompanied by the right accessories; thigh high PVC boots and fishnets anyone?)… It’s vampy, dramatic and at times, subversive.
Kym Ellery definitely knows how to work with gold and this season she’s highlighted her darker looks with strand upon strand of gold chains and sequins. And then there is that signature showstopper gold dress found in every collection. Last season it was a super short pleated, poofed and tied piece. This time it’s a sheerish dress that is not only party all over but a Led Zepplin rock concert in the back. In other words, if the sequins don’t catch your attention, than the plunging back certainly will!
