fabric trends winter 2011
For this fall/winter, a few of the elementary fabrics on display are shearling, lace, faux fur, velvet, knits and leather. On the catwalk, we glimpse an exhibition of myriad combinations like feminine laces and coarser shearling jackets. Let’s take you through a few of the sure-to-have fabric trends for fall/winter 2010-2011. The central idea is to mix various different kinds of fabrics while frolicking around during cold days of winter.

Velvet
This fall, the rich velvet has hit the right chords everywhere. The Dolce&Gabbana mixes the elegant dressing pattern with feminine bustiers and more masculine D&G. Velvet is versatile and it would keep running around timelessly. This fall, it amply shows this streak. A cut jacket is combined to a printed pant and furry boots exhibit an urban chic trend. Alexander Wang showcases this immensely lovable fabric too. It offers a mini dress having laces and pagoda sleeves. It looks rather suave and svelte.

Fur
For fur, this winter you would have weird rather than inspiring creations. They are shorn of their grace and femininity. At the Chanel runway show, you would come across head-to-toe furry outfit, skirts, pants and even yeti like dresses in fur. Chris Bailey provides a sample of furry interpretation in his latest clothesline. Proenza Schouler collection gave us a glimpse into some fur details. Peter Sum combines floral designs and checked and tweed patterns to fur.

Shearling
This is the coolest trend. It is used for probably each piece of design that the makers have in mind. May they be bags or boots or some other accessories, the fashion items from the closet possess a fine range of shearling. Jackets and coats are perhaps best helped with a shearling. At Burberry Prorsum, the shearling can be seen in its full vigor. The entire collection revolves around a shearling. Chris Bailey combines the elegant femininity of laces and tight high boots for parkas and aviator jackets. At Philip Lim, you can glimpse at a smart contrast between woolen and shearling. Rag & Bone exhibits a cape look for a shearling bomber jacket.

Knits
While knits are in vogue and run through any runway show, the elementary idea is to use a knit that looks good after matching. You can mix knits with sophisticated and intricate feminine dresses like leather belts and high-heels. Christian Dior has brought along a new avatar in chiffon dress. In the Loewe collection, the knits are worn with slender belt at the waist region. A pair of stilettos provides a contemporary look. The trends are also found in motley combinations with Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada, Chloé and Michael Kors.

Lace
Lace is good to bring glaze to any outfit and combines beautiful with shearling, tough boots, and fur among other clothes. It’s doing great work this season.
