Often as expressive as the clothes themselves, the eye styles on display during New York and London Fashion Weeks left no doubt that peepers have supplanted pouters, at least for this season. Although it’s too early to call a unifying trend, the motto could have been: attention, by any means necessary. Viewers were drawn to the windows of the soul through color (baby blue at Betsey Johnson, bronze goddess at Paul Smith), shape (sharply defined eyes complemented sleek silhouettes at Behnaz Sarafpour and Peter Som), and just plain drama (lush falsies at Calvin Klein, two-tone blue mascara at Custo Barcelona).
