Your Boyfriend Will Look Like A Banker

Rather than looking like bankers, men in the city need to look more like “creative professionals.” They’re no longer buying power suits, they’re replacing them. we no longer wear white shirts & have started wearing stripes & checks, & ties that are fun.

“The stodgy banker suit look is definitely dead,” says an investment banker in an article published in NYT. Hard as it may be to believe, there was a time when Wall Streeters dictated what it meant to dress for success. Now, with public sentiment against financial institutions still high, racks of expensive Italian beauties languish in shops. The power suits of yesteryear seem now dated in the face of current widespread economic panic.

Yesterday on the subway; I sat across a guy who was in a trimly tailored three-piece navy suit with a matching bright tie. By modern professional standards (even conservative ones) we was dressed primly, but I could tell we felt confident & comfortable.

From Brooks Brothers to Thom Browne, nice old gingham is a hit. At both of those stores, sporty-yet-elegant styles — low-key stripes & basic checks – have become popular. The reason is such shirts look jaunty but businesslike with or without a tie. & given that men in general have been hit by unemployment in the last few months, a more youthful outlook offers a better edge on the competition than clinging to old ways of dressing.

Oddly, it may seem silly to alter your style amid so plenty of pressing concerns, when donning a suit & white shirt is far easier than trying to figure out something casual yet elegant yet sporty yet professional. Still, if a alter of clothes is all you need, you’re not doing so badly.
